Thomas's At Burberry
Thomas's Cafe is part of Burberry's flagship Regent Street store, it is has a feel and space all of its own, even its own entrance on Vigo Street just around the corner. This all day dining destination, with a cafe on the ground floor and a stylish restaurant upstairs is a welcome addition to the area. It feels like a real departure from the jostling crowds on Regent Street, more chic country bolthole, something from the Chilterns, than busy central London. Celebrating classic British design and food.
There are brilliant British classics of scrambled eggs with London cured smoked salmon, lobster and chips, and Sutton Hoo chicken salad. The ingredients are all seasonal produce from small farms and artisan suppliers from all around the British Isles.
A partnership with the New Craftsmen has helped to transform Thomas's Cafe. From uncovering the windows, re-painting the walls, to sourcing contemporary oak chairs from Another Country for the cafe downstairs and Russell Pinch for the restaurant upstairs. This is a refined, British craft and country feel. Craft can really help to elevate an atmosphere, giving it soul, especially when presented in a modern and engaging way. There is also a snug private dining room which seats 14, which is possibly one of the most atmospheric dining rooms in central London. The New Craftsmen themselves supplied a range of stools and custom tables; and curated a space upstairs adjacent to the restaurant celebrating 'methods, materials and matter' which is filled with accessories and a marvellous selection of gifts exclusive to Thomas’s, of cashmere blankets, stationery and more.
Thomas's is quintessentially British, not overtly showy, but quietly brilliant in every way.
